July 1985, the NJ State Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Shul, after the Borough of Deal tried to block the Shul’s services.
The court ruling enabled many other Shuls, and even churches, to rely on Farhi v. Deal Borough Commissioners for religious practice.
Several years later, Mr. Joe Cayre joined the shul as chairman. He spearheaded fundraising initiatives to build a larger synagogue and better serve the growing number of families in our area.
The next door property 79 Hathaway was purchased for the expansion.
